::a great hotel, modern and clean, only bad point is that it's on a busy road. pool area is nice, it's unheated but we went in 14°C weather and it wasn't even too bad!! didn't have breakfast but have had breakfast in novotel bayeux and paris montparnasse and has been great, so expect it would be the same.

::Clean and looking new. Great if you have a car. It is close to the motorway in the direction of the d day beach. There is also a light tram 5 stops away from the river side of Caen

::Novotel almost ruined our European trip. Be very cautious about making reservations here. My wife and I planned a trip to Normandy centered around the Memorial Day ceremony at the American Cemetery and the historical events of the D-Day invasion that liberated France from the Nazis in WW2. We made reservations six months in advance via Orbitz and got a really good deal if we paid in advance. I received a confirmation number and printed the page to bring with us. The charge showed up on my January credit card statement. I paid the balance that month. Fast forward to Memorial Day weekend in France. We arrived at 4PM to check in for our reservation and were told we did not have one. After pressing them further and providing the confirmation number, we were told that there was a reservation, but it was cancelled in February. It was not cancelled by us and we received no information to indicate we no longer had a room. I asked for another room and was told they had none. Furthermore, no hotels within an hour of Caen had rooms available. So, there we were in another country on a major holiday weekend with no place to stay (for 3 nights) despite having already paid for the room. The unavailable rooms were sold at much higher rates than we paid. I had to file a claim with my credit card company to get my money back after returning to the US. I did not receive any further explanation for Novotel advertising a good rate, taking my money, and cancelling my room. The only explanation I can think of is that they realized the top rates they could get for this busy weekend and decided to re-sell our room at that higher rate. Novotel will never receive my business again. I encourage others to remember this story if you are considering staying there.
