::The lavoir, or in english the wash house, was built in 1811. At that time the wash house, and fountain next to it, was for domestic use. Everyone who did his or her laundry had a space of 80 cm. The places at the top, where the water begins, were the best spots, as the water was clean. The more down, the less clean it became. The wash house was modified in 1832 and in 1861. So todays look, is the same as in 1861. Nowadays you can only use the fountain.
